Curator of Exhibitions and Collections

The Miller Art Museum seeks a Curator of Exhibitions and Collections who is creative, thoughtful, enthusiastic and team-oriented. The ideal candidate will work cooperatively with museum leaders to imagine a new program of exhibitions and lead the future growth of the organization's 1,000-plus piece permanent collection of Wisconsin art, 20th c. to present, organizing collection-based exhibitions, noncollection exhibitions, and exhibition-specific programs. This leader will develop and leverage deep connections in the local and regional art communities, both traditional and emerging, to expand the Miller Art Museum's artist community and reach. This individual is responsible for research of the collection, recommends acquisitions, and coordinates the Museum's collection planning, handles registrar responsibilities and oversees the development and execution of the exhibition schedule in keeping with the organization's mission and core values. The ideal candidate will bring traditional museum experience along with a broad understanding of art, possess a curiosity to learn and a strong desire to innovate, building on the museum's well-respected image through inventive exhibitions and creative community collaborations.

The Miller Art Museum - an anchor for nearly 5 decades in one of the nation's most vibrant, authentic art scenes in the heart of the Door County, Wisconsin - aspires to be a great cultural destination and regional leader in the museum community. The Museum continually strives to provide a transformative experience, accessible to all, in an intimate setting with programming that excites, engages and empowers. The institution is committed to providing a forum for cultural engagement and seeks, too, to shape future generations by celebrating and preserving the work and legacy of nationally renowned imaginary realist Gerhard CF Miller, aspiring to inform a new era of understanding and appreciation of his life and work.
